Day 19 - Eureka Springs, Arkansas - Christ of the Ozarks and The Passion Play

We arrived in Eureka Springs late on Day 18.  We checked in (after hours) at the Wanderlust RV Park and Debra did laundry while I drained the tanks and refilled the fresh water tank.  We ate dinner and watched a little TV before going to sleep.

Had a good nights sleep, the weather was nice and cool and the campground was pretty quiet.  We went to the office to pay for the nights stay and we were on our way to town.  Our first stop was at The Christ of the Ozarks.  Located at 1,500 feet above sea level is a 67 foot tall statue of Christ.  

Day 18 - Guthrie, Oklahoma

We had spent the night at the Walmart in Weatherford, OK and had a good nights sleep.  Woke up and had breakfast and was on the road at 10:30 am.  I never said we are early risers.  Driving on the interstate was really windy and I decided to change the GPS to avoid highways.  I really prefer that, you get to see so much more of the country that way, it just takes a little longer.  On this leg of our trip discovered ourselves in Guthrie.  What a beautiful city!  In 1889 the area grew by about 10,000 people when they the land rush.  Here are photos of the buildings downtown.

Day 18 - Route 66 Motel in Tucumcari, NM

We spent the night at a rest area on I-40, Pajarito Rest Area, just east of exit 300.  It was a nice night, had a few other RV's there and some semi's.  On the way to Amarillo we jumped off I 40 to travel some on Route 66 through the city of Tucumcari.  We found a restored Route 66 Motel that had a coffee shop.  We stopped for some coffee and to see the motel, the coffee was hot and the motel really cool.  The furnishings were original and restored in good condition, what you expect to find in your parents home.  Very mid-century!

Day 17 - Albuquerque - Old Town

After driving around finding Breaking Bad filming locations we headed to Old Town.  There you will some very unique buildings, covering about ten blocks of historic adobe buildings.  The oldest building in the city is the San Felipe de Neri Church, it was built in 1793.  Many of the original buildings there that were once government offices, shops and home are now art galleries, shops and restaurants.
