Day 17 - Albuquerque - Breaking Bad self tour

Woke up and left the Fire Rock Casino parking lot at 8:30.  I would not recommend it as a free place if you don't like trains, a lot of trains!  It seemed like endless trains went by during the night.  The casino is located between I-40 and Route 66 on one side and railroad tracks on the other side so you hear a bit of noise either way, traffic or trains.  But it was free and we even made a little money the night we arrived there so all is good.

After a couple hours on the road we made it to Albuquerque and made a route to see some of the Breaking Bad filming locations.

El  Pollo Hermanos - Really Mexican restaurant  now.

We ate at Twister's and it was really good!  If you are in town stop
at one of their locations if you like Mexican food.

Jesse Pinkman's house

Car Wash

Walter White's house -  I took just a quick photo from
the moving RV to be less of a pain to the owners.

Saul's office

An RV setup with great gas mileage!

We saw this on I-17 just south of Flagstaff, it looks like a great way to travel on a minimalist life style.

Day 16 - Stop 6 - Fire Rock Casino

Made it to Church Rock, New Mexico and pulled into the Fire Rock Casino parking lot for the night.  After a little snack we took the parking lot shuttle to the casino.  We both registered as new players and they gave us some free money to play with.  Debra received $10 and I $20.   We played for a little while and actually got lucky.  When we cashed out we left the casino that night  with $76.99 more in our pocket!  We did not spend any of money, that was really great.

Day 16 - Stop 5 - Petrified Forest National Park

After lunch we headed to see the Petrified Forest National Park.  It is not really a forest, that I thought was funny.  It's origin goes back many years, something like 225 millions years ago.

In a nutshell, they say there was a big flood and all these trees got uprooted and washed down a river, the ended up being covered with water and sediment.  Later the land rose up, water dried up, sediment eroded away and left these petrified trees laying on the ground.

It is an amazing place to see, the land is like being on another planet.  It just feels so strange being there, I wonder what early settlers thought of the place when they discovered it.

Day 16 - Stop 4 - Holbrook, AZ - Home of the Wigwam Motel

After leaving Winslow we passed through Holbrook.  Plenty of old Route 66 sights including the Wigwam Motel.  I always remembered seeing the old post cards of the Wigwam, I use to think how cool it would have been to have spent the night there.
